Charlie

The movie Chaplin is a great depiction of the troubled yet successful life of the famous actor and director Charlie Chaplin.  Chaplin is played by the popular actor Robert Downey Jr. and the film was released in 1993.  There is really an all-star cast for this movie, actors including Sir Anthony Hopkins, Dan Aykroyd, Kevin Kline, and Chaplin’s Daughter Geraldine Chaplin.  And this is just to name a few.  After viewing only the first half of the movie, we are shown the good and the bad times of Chaplin’s early life.  The movie opens with a very sad scene of Chaplin removing his make up, giving us a sense of emotional trouble in his life.  We see his childhood and his psychotic mother who is put into a hospital and her kids are taken away from her.  The first time we see Chaplin in action is at the theater where he preforms his drunk act.  The audience is confused because they were not sure if he was just a wasted audience member of if he was really part of the show.  The film then moves into Chaplin’s love life and how he goes to America to begin his work in film.  I am interested to see where the rest of his life goes!
